5th Book: Debarim (Deuteronomy)
Debarim is a great book to use as a summary of what happens after the Exodus. Deuteronomy retells the time of the children of Yashra’el (Israel) in the wilderness, and even gives details that weren’t mentioned in the previous books. Before Moshe passes away on top of the mountain, he reminds the people of what took place and warns them before they go to enter the Promised Land.

Torah Portions 5.11: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 33:1-34:12
The Torah Portion this week is the last Portion and is called V’Zot HaBerachah (וְזֹאת הַבְּרָכָה), basically meaning ‘and this is the Blessing‘. Moshe blesses the people and passes away on Mount Nebo.
Torah Portions 5.10: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 32:1-32:52
|The Torah Portion this week is called Ha’azinu (האזינו), basically meaning to listen. Moshe sings his song to the children of Yashra’el and goes to the top of Mount Nebo.
Torah Portions 5.9: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 31:1-31:30
|The Torah Portion this week is called Vayelech (וילך), meaning “and he went.” YHWH tells Moshe that his time to pass away is near and the Torah is written and given to the children of Yashra’el.
Torah Portions 5.8: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 29:9-30:20
The Torah Portion this week is called Nitzavim (נצבים ), meaning “Standing”. The sojourners and people to come are given the same opportunity to take part in YHWH’s agreement (covenant) as the children of Yashra’el.
Torah Portions 5.7: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 26:1-29:8
This Torah Portion is called Ki Tavo (כי תבוא), meaning “When you come in”. This portion goes over a few things the children of Yasha’el are to do when they come into the land- first fruits, and the blessing and cursing of the people.
Torah Portions 5.6: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 21:10-25:19
This Torah Portion is called Ki Tetze (כי תצא), meaning “when you go forth”. This goes over a few rules the children of Yashra’el are to do.
Torah Portions 5.5: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 16:18-21:9
This Torah Portion is called Shoftim (שופטים), meaning “Judges”. Moshe tells the people how they are to judge the different types of situations and people they run into in the promised land.
Torah Portions 5.4: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 11:26-16:17
This Torah Portion is called Re’eh ( ראה), meaning “See”. Moshe presents the people with blessings and curses, reminds us of what things not to eat, what do to about loans after 7 years and more.
Torah Portions 5.3: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 7:12-11:25
This Torah Portion is called Ekev (עקב), which means “heel”, or “because of”. This week, Moshe is still recapping all the events the children of Yashra’el have been through since Mitsrayim (Egypt) and reminds them to keep YHWH’s commands!
Torah Portions 5.2: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 3:23-7:11
This Torah Portion is called Va’etchanan (ואתחנן), meaning “and I besought.” This portion is about Moshe recalling to the people the time spent at Mount Horeb, YHWH’s commandments and a bit about the possession of the promised land.
Torah Portions 5.1: Debarim (Deuteronomy) 1:1-3:22
This Torah Portion is called Debarim (דברים), meaning “words”. Not only is it the last book of the Torah, but also the name of this first portion too. Moshe summarizes the journey up for the children of Yashra’el.
