About the Name

Debarim (Deuteronomy)32: 2 “Let my instruction fall as rain, My speech drop down as dew, As fine rain on the tender plants, And as showers on the grass.3 “For I proclaim the Name of YHWH NAME, Ascribe greatness to our Elohim.

The single most important revelation ever given to mere mortal men is the revelation of the Creator’s Name. Perhaps you have heard His name is “Lord” or “God” but in reality these are generic titles that are interchangeable with the “gods” and “lords” of pagan mythology. The Eternal One declared his proper Name a staggering 6,828 times. That would average at least seven times per page. The startling truth is that most who claim to know the Scriptures do not know The Name!

YaHuWaH (YHWH) written in Paleo Hebrew

Shemoth (Exodus) 3:15 And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yashar’al (Israel), ‘YHWH NAME Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Yitshaq, and the Elohim of Ya’acob, has sent me to you. This is My Name FOREVER, and this is My remembrance to ALL generations!

The four letters YHWH NAME, of our Father’s name are Yod, Hey, Waw, Hey, often rendered YHWH in the English language. Scholars have come to know these letters as the “tetragrammaton” or the four lettered Name.

The most accurate transliteration of this Name in English is rendered YaHuWaH (Yahuw’Ah). In older English translations such as the 1611 King James Version the name was transliterated in a hand full of places as Iehouah which would later become known as “Jehovah”. The majority of scholarly sources agree that “Jehovah” and “Yehovah” are indeed inaccurate.

The Hebrew scriptures command us to Qara (call upon, preach and pronounce) The Name! In fact we see that calling on the Name is our direct link to redemption and salvation!

Joel 2:30 “And I shall give signs in the heavens and upon the earth: blood and fire and columns of smoke,31 the sun is turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of YHWH NAME 32 “And it shall be that everyone who calls (Qara) on the Name of YHWH NAME shall be delivered. For on Mount Tsiyon and in Yerushalayim there shall be an escape as YHWH NAME has said, and among the survivors whom YHWH NAMEcalls.

Not only are we told time and time again to “Qara” the Name. We are also commanded to “Zakar” (remember and memorialize) the Name of YaHuWaH!

YashaYAHUW (Isaiah) 12: “Praise YHWH NAME, call upon (Qara) His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples, make mention (Zakar) that His Name is exalted!

Many may be surprised to know we are commanded to Shaba (swear) by the Name of YaHuWaH!

Debarim (Deuteronomy) 10:20“Fear YHWH NAME your Elohim. Serve Him, and cling to Him, and swear (shaba) by His Name.

The Word of YaHuWaH is clear! We are supposed to honor and cherish his Set Apart Name! We must honor his name by verbally pronouncing, memorializing and making agreements by His Name.

YaHuWaH written in Paleo Hebrew found in Septuagint fragment.

The Name was so revered that in the original Greek translations of the Scriptures called the Septuagint we find YaHuWaH in Paleo Hebrew! The later custom of substituting the Hebrew name for the Greek Kurios meaning lord came about from Greco Roman Christianity.

HalleluYAH Psalm 149 in Aleppo Codex

HalleluYAH is an ancient Hebrew phrase meaning “Praise you YAH!” Yah is considered the shortened poetic form of the Name and can be found in the original 1611 KJV as “Iah” HalleluYAH is pronounced the same in all dialects of language! Through this powerful call to praise YHWH NAME [YaHuWaH] has preserved his memorial NAME in ALL generations! Yet many who use this phrase today have no idea what it means.

HalleluYAH Greek Revelation 19 in the Codex Siniaticus

Deuteronomy 28:10 “And all peoples of the earth shall see that the Name of YHWH NAME is called upon you, and they shall be afraid of you.

Yod Hey “Yah” and Yod Hey Waw” Yahuw appear in over 200 different names recorded in the scriptures. In Hebrew Elijah is EliYAHUW or EliYAH, Isaiah is YashaYAHUW, Jeremiah is YeremiYAHUW and so on and so forth. In Hebrew, names are extremely important. Contrary to many cultures where names can be meaningless letters and sounds strung together, ALL NAMES found in Scripture have a Hebrew meaning! For instance the Name Judah in Hebrew is Yahuwdah. Judah means nothing in Hebrew or English yet Yahuwdah means “those who praise YaHuWaH” in the original Hebrew. The house of Yahuwdah would be the tribe the Mashyach (Messiah) would come from! Every aspect of life is reflected somehow by your Name in the world of the ancient Hebrew.

Proverbs 22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold

Ecclesiastes 7:1 A good name is better than precious ointment

The Name of YaHuWaH literally means “He who exists” or The Self Existing! The meaning of His Name is found in the expression: AhaYAH ashar AhaYAH often referred to as “I am that I am!”

The word Name in Hebrew is Shem. Shem literally means name as in the pronunciation and meaning but also it refers to character. In Western culture this idea would be best understood as someone referring to their reputation as their “good name”.

It is universally understood that the name of the Messiah was the same of that of Joshua. YAHUWshuwa is his true name and it means YaHuWaH redeems! The very name of Messiah tells us that YaHuWaH is our redeemer! YAHUWshuwa used His Father’s Name when teaching and performing signs of healing.

“Yahuwshuwa” from the book of Joshua DSS.

Yahuwchanon 17 :6 “I have revealed Your Name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have guarded Your Word.

Yahuwchanon (John) 5:43“I have come in My Father’s Name and you do not receive Me, if another comes in his own name, him you would receive.

Yahuwchanon (John) 10:25 YAHUWshuwa answered them, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s Name, they bear witness concerning Me.

Most of the world has heard Yahuwshuwa’s prayer “Our Father who is in Heaven Qodesh (Set Apart) is YOUR Name! This Name is YaHuWaH!

Many people can quote John 3:16 but how many know Malachi 3:16?

Malachi 3:16 Then shall those who fear YHWH NAME speak to one another, and YHWH NAME listen and hear, and a book of remembrance be written before Him, of those who fear YHWH NAME, and those who think upon His Name.

This is the book of life, Sefer ha’chai! It is my prayer that YOUR NAME will be recorded in the great scroll of Remembrance…
